I Wrote My Way Into 2019

I’ve celebrated New Year’s Eve in so many different ways. From being far away from home, dinner at my family, partying with friends, random snowball fights, going out, to kissing at midnight.

When it was time to celebrate the start of 2019, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do. I was invited to a couple of different dinners and parties, but I kept my options open. I just wasn’t sure about what I felt like doing to mark the passing of 2018.

2018 was a very interesting, challenging, hard and wonderful year, all at the same time. I spent the last 10 days of 2018 recharging my batteries, spending quality time with my family (and myself), planning out the new year, reading and being creative. It was a wonderful way of winding down the year to an end, and getting ready for what’s to come.

So when December 31st came around, I slept in, and I woke up feeling kind of off. I didn’t feel like being social or partying. So I sent a text out to the wonderful friends of mine who had invited me to celebrate New Year’s Eve with them and told them how I felt. I wished them a good celebration and then I got up, took a shower, got into some comfy clothes, made a nice breakfast, and then I just enjoyed the day. I read a little, knitted, had coffee, made myself a really tasty vegan dinner, and I opened up a bottle of white wine. And when the evening turned into night, I started writing, and I wrote my way all the way into 2019.

To me, this was the best way for me to spend the day. Not to say that I want to spend all New Year’s Eves like I did last night, but it was the right choice for the last day of 2018. I listened to my body and my mind, and I made my decision based on that.

And here I am, in the middle of the night of the first day of a brand new year! Feeling a little bit tipsy, happy about the work that I’ve done so far, feeling very relaxed, and very happy! ❤️
